Bulldog in the Community
Bulldog Sports and Fitness will partner with the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula for a six week program that will include mentoring and coaching youth around the Menlo Park area. Every day the number of children left at home unsupervised increases, leaving kids to look for companionship and recreation in the streets. The Boys and Girls Club of America’s goal is to try and change this epidemic, by providing a safe and fun environment where these kids can learn a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.
Bulldog Sports and Fitness contributes to the Boys and Girls Club by volunteering to educate and mentor “at risk” youth on the importance of fitness and health. We instill sportsmanship, teamwork, life skills, speed, sports skills, fitness, and nutrition all while having fun. With that we hope the boys and girls will take this with them and apply it to their everyday lives to help them succeed and thrive in the future.

REALgirl Empowerment Camps
REALgirl Empowerment Camps are coming to Bulldog Sports and Fitness August 6-10, 2012. This week-long camp is designed for girls ages 9-12. The goal is to provide essential life skills every girl/young woman needs for healthy maturation, development, formation of healthy relationships and the opportunity to reach her own unique and highest potential. Register at www.aneabogue.com/moms-realgirl-empowerment-workshop-registration-form.php
Please consider sharing this event with every woman you know that has a daughter, niece, cousin, or friend that would benefit from this important life-skill, because girls that have high self-esteem and positive self-awareness turn into successful women in life.

June Healthy Recipe
You can still eat delicious food and keep the weight off. Keep things simple: lean protein, complex carbs, plenty of vegetables and fruits. How about some Chicken Fajitas? No oils or fats added to this recipe as the dish is steam-cooked in the microwave to save time. Here you go:

*2 medium green or red peppers (or combination) cut into 1/4" strips

*2 medium onions thinly sliced lengthwise

*4 cloves garlic, minced

*1 1/2 pounds skinless chicken breasts, pound evenly

*2 Tbsp. fajita spice rub or taco seasoning *12 6" whole wheat tortillas

* Optional toppings: shredded cheddar cheese, low fat sour cream, salsa.

1. Combine chicken and rub seasoning in bowl, turning to coat and set aside.
2. Put all vegetables and garlic into microwaveable covered dish. Place chicken on top of vegetables. Microwave (covered) for 12-15 minutes. Slice chicken without cutting veggies.
3. Warm tortillas in microwave on a plate and cover with damp paper towel. Cook for 30 seconds.
4. To serve, spoon chicken and veg mixture onto centers of tortillas. Serve immediately with optional toppings of reduced fat cheese, low fat sour cream, and salsa.
