Gary Smith, proprietor of Menalto Cleaners, is committed to his Menlo Park neighborhood; in fact, he lives just around the corner from the cleaners. Most of his neighbors are also his customers. He knows them by name, and remembers birthdays. Customers are greeted by Smith's warm smile and infectious enthusiasm, which he replenishes with a daily 5-mile run.
